Tapestry Food & Wellbeing Services in Havering

Tapestry has a long history of providing high quality food for older people in the community, having established a ‘meals on wheels’ service in Havering as long ago as 1961. We feel that healthy eating has always been part of our values and forms the foundation of allowing older people to live positive, healthy and fulfilling lives.
Today we promote healthy lifestyles in many ways including serving fresh meals at our community hub’s, incorporating meal preparation in our home care plans and through our ‘my health matters’ project.

Meals at our HüBs

Today we promote healthy lifestyles in many ways including serving fresh meals at our community hub’s, incorporating meal preparation in our home care plans and through our, ‘My Health Matters’ Project.
At our community hub’s we provide our customers with high quality fresh ‘home style’ cooking and have a varied menu including old favourite’s, such as Shepard’s Pie, Fish & Chips and Roast Dinners, and healthy lighter options. All of our meals are made using fresh ingredients, are nutritionally balanced and can be tailored to meet an individual’s dietary requirement.
As part of our Care at Home service we can help the people we care for to plan, prepare and cook meals, allowing them choice and variety in diet.

Rainham Food Pantry

In partnership with Havering Council and Your Local Pantry, our Food Pantry at Rainham Library offers members over £20 worth of food for just £6. Open every Wednesday, 11am-1pm, the Pantry helps make good-quality, affordable food available to all – supporting both physical and mental health.

Access to good quality food is fundamental to living a healthy life

Eating well means you are more likely to feel healthier, stay active for longer and is proven to reduce serious physical medical health issues such as heart disease, stroke, cancer and Parkinson’s disease. It is also suggested that a good diet is important for our mental health and social contact during mealtimes is valuable in reducing social isolation in older people. It is never to late to start eating healthily so not give us a call on 01708 796600 or drop us an email to find out how we can help you today.
