Being a carer – whether paid or unpaid – is a deeply meaningful role, but one that can also be draining if you don’t have the right support in place.
What is Carer Burnout?
Carer burnout is emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion. It happens when stress builds over time, often quietly. Signs include fatigue, irritability, trouble sleeping, loss of motivation, and feelings of hopelessness.
Common signs include:
- Constant fatigue, even after rest
- Feelings of helplessness or being overwhelmed
- Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
- Irritability or mood swings
- Withdrawal from social activities
